Samsung Display is one of the world’s largest panel makers, and it apparently also holds the biggest market share for smaller OLED panels. Its long-term OLED strategy is starting to come into view through a recent roadmap leak, which hints at meaningful changes in the monitor market over the next few years.
Samsung Display plans 24-inch and 39-inch QD-OLED panels, leaked 2027 roadmap suggests
A rumor out of China suggests that Samsung Display is preparing new 24-inch and 39-inch QD-OLED panel sizes targeted for 2027 (via VideoCardz). This suggests the company is looking to expand beyond its current focus on larger formats and ultrawide displays. A 24-inch option would be a notable shift, potentially enabling more compact and competitive gaming monitors, while the 39-inch size could refine the ultrawide segment with updated specifications.
The same roadmap also points to a transition to GEN4 luminous materials and a new internal panel structure referred to as QOE, along with support for UHD at 240Hz with DLG and brightness targets around TB600. Looking more closely at the interim step, the 2026 lineup could stick with GEN2 and GEN3 materials. It reportedly includes a new 34-inch model with U+ resolution, an RGB stripe pixel layout at 110 PPI, and improved refresh rates reaching 240Hz at UHD.
There is also mention of an updated surface treatment labeled AR3.0 and AGLR, although brightness levels are said to remain largely unchanged compared to current panels. Taken together, the roadmap shows a gradual but clear evolution. As with any early rumor, there is always a chance that things will not materialize as expected. If accurate, however, we may see greater flexibility in the smaller gaming category.
