Samsung is planning a second book-style fold for later this year, specifically to compete with the upcoming iPhone Fold. Apple is said to be launching a wider foldable, like the first Google Pixel Fold, or the OPPO Find N2, and now Samsung is following that lead.
This is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, codenamed H8 with the model number SM-F971U. And it is expected to be announced this summer, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
From this design, it kind of looks like a short Galaxy S25 Edge. Thanks to the dual camera module on the back. And considering the fact that it is still vertical, this one is really going to wobble quite a bit on a table.
It’s important to note that these were created from CADs, which are sometimes not exactly precise. And don’t typically show things like SIM card slots and other aspects. So some small details may not be accurate, like the bezel size.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide Specs
On the specs side of things, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is expected to have very similar specs as the Galaxy Z Fold 8. So that would include a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, likely a 5,000mAh capacity battery and 45W charging to boot.
Of course, the big difference here is going to be the display sizes and dimensions of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. Let’s start with those displays. It’s going to sport a 5.4-inch cover display, with a 7.6-inch inner display. Those are both slightly smaller than the Galaxy Z Fold 8, but keep in mind that this is a wider foldable and displays are measured diagonally.
As far as dimensions go, it’ll be 123.9 x 161.4 x 4.9mm when unfolded, including those protruding bezels. Otherwise, it’s about 4.3mm. When folded, that’s 123.9 x 82.2 x 9.8mm. Including the camera bump, that’s 14.6mm, showing just how thick that camera bump is, especially since it is only a dual camera setup.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide Expected Price
There hasn’t been a whole lot of leaks about the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide price, but we are expecting this to stick to the $2,000 price point of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Pricing it very similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 8. The reason for this is, Apple is expected to be pricing their iPhone Fold at this same price point. And this device basically only exists to compete with Apple’s foldable iPhone. Though we could see a small difference in pricing between the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, after all the wide model is a bit smaller and has one less camera.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide Launch Date
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is expected to be announced alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 later this Summer at Unpacked. The last few years, Samsung has done this event in July, but considering the earlier Unpacked event was delayed a month, it’s possible that the Summer Unpacked event could move back to August – where it used to be. That would also bring it closer to the iPhone launch in September.
Typically, pre-orders would open the same day as Unpacked, with the devices shipping a week or two later.
