San Antonio Public Library reveals ‘Best of 2025’ list for books, movies and more


In 2025, Bexar County residents borrowed more than 11.8 million books and other items from SAPL.

SAN ANTONIO — Looking for you’re latest adventure, romance, sci-fi or thriller? The San Antonio Public Library has you covered. 

SAPL started displaying its “Best of 2025” staff recommendations through displays at various library locations across the city. These handwritten recommendations can help visitors find their next book, TV show, movie or album and each item on the list is either new or new to the SAPL team. 

Popular book recommendations include “Onyx Storm” by Rebecca Yarros, “Lost and Lassoed” by Lyla Sage, “Sunrise on the Reaping” by Suzanne Collins and “The Magician of Tiger Castle,” by Louis Sachar. A full list can be found here. 


This year, Bexar County residents borrowed more than 11.8 million books and other items from SAPL. Below is some of the year’s most popular titles, according to their website. 

The top three books for adults was “The Let Them Theory” by Mel Robbins, “The Crash” by Freida McFadden and “Great Big Beautiful Life” by Emily Henry. Freida McFadden also took home SAPL’s top author spot. 

The most popular audiobooks were “Onyx Storm,” “Great Big Beautiful Life” and “The Women” by Kristin Hannah. 

Streaming movies and TV shows on Kanopy was also popular at SAPL, with favorites including “Pride and Prejudice” (2005), Father Brown (2013), and Masha and the Bear (2009). 

A San Antonio Public Library card is required to check out books, e-readers and other items. All Bexar County residents are eligible to register for a free card. More information about card registration can be found here.
