Hello Trainers! March 2026 Community Day: Scorbunny is up and coming, with the Fire first partner Pokémon of Galar region: Rabbit Pokémon Scorbunny being the featured Pokémon. Evolve Raboot (Scorbunny’s evolution) during the event or up to four hours afterwards to get a Cinderace that knows the Charged Attack Blast Burn. Starting with the event and continuing afterwards, Cinderace will also gain access to a new Charged Attack: Pyro Ball. So, how does Cinderace stack up in the PvE meta, and how do these new moves impact its performance, let’s find out!
Cinderace is a pure Fire type Pokémon. Known as the Striker Pokémon, Cinderace draws inspiration from soccer players, using powerful, flame-charged kicks to overwhelm its opponents. It has a decent Attack stat but not great Defense or HP stat. Cinderace impressively resists 6 different types while being weak to only 3 types.
Shiny Scorbunny Family
Cinderace, usually runs a pretty standard Fire moveset of Fire Spin + Flamethrower. Having not the best of stats, and an average moveset, Cinderace has always been ignored when it comes to its performance in raids. Post Communtiy Day, Cinderace will get access to 2 new Charged Attacks: Blast Burn and Pyro Ball, both of which significantly improve its performance. Blast Burn though, still remains the better Charged Attack. Let us use DPS Comparer Tool to compare Cinderace’s performance as a Fire raid attacker with and without Blast Burn, and at the same time compare its performance with other Top Fire Attackers.

As we can see, Cinderace’s performance improves massively with Blast Burn as its Charged Attack. However, it still is nowhere close to top meta Fire raid attackers. There are already multiple strong Fire attackers in the game which pushes Cinderace even further back. Even Shadow Infernape is ahead of Cinderace as a Fire attacker. That pretty much sums it up! But, all is not over for Cinderace. Here, have a look:

Among all the Fire starters in the game, Cinderace has the best performance in raids. Hence, we can infer that if and when Shadow Cinderace makes its way in Pokémon GO, it is likely to jump over Shadow Delphox (currently at #7) as a Fire raid attacker. The present may not be the best, but the future certainly is bright. Trainers! Make sure to grind those XL candies.

Cinderace boasts a powerful Gigantamax form that can unleash its exclusive G-Max Move, G-Max Fireball — a Fire type G-Max attack. While, Scorbunny’s Community Day may not impact Cinderace’s performance in Max Battles, it provides an excellent chance to stock up both regular and XL candies which are required to power up your G-Max Cinderace and also to unlock and level up its Max Moves.
G-Max Cinderace is currently the top Fire attacker in Max Battles. The table below shows a simulation of G-Max Rillaboom Max Battle:

G-Max Cinderace is the best counter for G-Max Rillaboom Max Battle. The story remains similar for all other Max Battles where Fire type counters are required. So Trainers, don’t miss out on the chance to build a G-Max Cinderace, it will forever be useful in Max Battles.
While the choice of Charged Move doesn’t impact your Charged Attack on Gigantamax Cinderace, as it is set as G-Max Fireball, it would be a great time to evolve any Dynamax Scorbunny into Dynamax Cinderace as it will help boost their performance too!
Cinderace may not burn brightest in the current raid meta, but it’s far from being benched. With access to Blast Burn, it finally steps into relevance among Fire type attackers, especially as the strongest Fire starter in Pokémon GO. While it is currently overshadowed, its future potential as Shadow Cinderace and its performance in Max Battles as G-Max Cinderace, makes this Community Day worth the grind. So, while Cinderace’s present story may flicker rather than blaze, its flame is only getting started!
Let us know Trainers! Which Fire Starter is your most and least favorite? Which other Fire type Pokémon would you like to feature in a Community Day?
As always stay safe! and have a great community day!
