The Senoia City Council is using a consulting firm to fill leadership positions in the city.
At its Monday night meeting, the council approved two agreements with Sumter Local Government Consulting.
The first agreement contracts the firm to assist the city with financial services, while the second will have the firm perform a national search for a new city manager and finance director.
Rob Parker, Senoia’s interim city manager, said the contract for financial services is for three months for $6,000 per month.
The contract is cancellable on a 30-day notice he said. The financial services provided by the firm are needed because the city is without a finance director, he said, and will help craft a new budget for the city.
The national search was given to the city at a discounted rate of $20,000 for the two searches, according to Parker.
“They’re really clear about what a unique opportunity this is and what a great future this town has,” Parker said of the consulting firm.
Earlier this year, the council fired former City Manager Harold Simmons for allegedly secretly boosting his salary and eliminated the position of Assistant City Manager.
On Feb. 2, the council filed a formal complaint in the Coweta Superior Court against Simmons, former Assistant City Manager Jeff Fisher and former Mayor William Pearman for an excess of $176,000 that was allegedly given to Simmons.
Employment and labor law firm Matthews & Greene provided a pro bono investigation into the city’s finances and wrote the formal complaint for the city.
