Atlantic City will have two governors in town when it hosts the 29th Annual East Coast Gaming Congress next month.
Former Gov. Chris Christie’s appearance was announced Tuesday.
He will join American Gaming Association President and CEO Bill Miller to discuss challenges facing the gaming industry. Christie currently serves as strategic adviser to the AGA.
“Gov. Christie is a longstanding leader in gaming in New Jersey and around the world,” said conference co-founder and Senior Policy Advisor to Spectrum Gaming Group Michael Pollock. “Together, he and Bill Miller will offer perspectives that are critical to shaping the future of gaming and the states and communities that depend on this industry.”
He joins Gov. Mikie Sherrill, who was announced as keynote speaker last month.
“We are thrilled to have Gov. Sherrill deliver the keynote address at our annual conference,” conference Co-founder Lloyd D. Levenson, CEO of Cooper Levenson, said at the time. “Her participation underscores the relevance of ECGC as a forum where industry leaders and policy makers come together to discuss how to support a successful future for this critical sector.”
She will be the seventh state leader to address the conference, following a tradition that began with former Gov. Brendan Byrne at our inaugural event, Pollock said.
The conference will be held April 14 and 15 at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City.
The congress is the longest-running gaming conference in the country. This year’s theme is “Gaming in Transition.”
Christie served two terms as governor, during which he played a decisive role in the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case, Murphy v. NCAA, that effectively ended the federal prohibition on state-authorized sports betting.
“Hosting former Gov. Christie, along with several CEO speakers, advances and underscores a goal we established decades ago: Build a conference on the foundation of leaders speaking to leaders,” Levenson said in making the new announcement.
The 2026 ECGC program will tackle key issues including artificial intelligence, prediction markets, iGaming expansion, and the anticipated impact following the development of full-service casino resorts in the Downstate New York market.
ECGC will also present its Lifetime Achievement Award to the Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers (AGEM) in recognition of its longstanding commitment to the integrity and principles of gaming licensure.
