The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District’s Financial Oversight Committee is seeking qualified candidates to fill four upcoming vacancies with three-year terms beginning July 1, 2026.
The committee reviews significant financial matters impacting the district, assists in communicating school finance issues to the community, provides oversight for various district financing measures and agreements, and reviews SMMUSD’s annual budget, financial projections and audited financial statements.
Ideal candidates will have significant professional finance or accounting experience, or deep familiarity with public education operations and finance. Candidates should also be committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment for SMMUSD students.

The committee is also seeking student representatives from each of the three district high schools to join in an advisory role. Student committee members will have an advisory vote on agendized items, which will be recorded in the official minutes.
