BOSTON – Highlighted by a program record-tying four home runs and senior Kasey Ricard’s 11 strikeouts, the defending Patriot League champion Boston University softball team run-ruled defending Big East champion UConn, 9-1, in a six-inning home victory.
The Terriers (24-10) scored their first seven runs going yard and then added two more on RBI singles to extend their active win streak to 16 contests, as the Huskies fell to 10-22. Juniors Kylie Doherty and Kyomi Apalit plated a combined five runs in the first inning to give BU the lead for good and improve to 9-0 at home.
BU will next continue the nine-game homestand by hosting Patriot League Lehigh in a three-game series set to begin at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
