Sonoma County’s elected finance chief, who acts as its auditor, controller, treasurer and tax collector, announced he won’t seek a third term.
Erick Roeser, who has held the post since 2007, said he will wrap up more than 32 years of public service at the end of the year.
Roeser thanked voters for their trust, the Board of Supervisors for their strong working relationship and the professionalism of his staff for enabling “the greatest honor and privilege of my professional life.”
Roeser endorsed his deputy for eight years, Amanda Ruch, who has filed to run for the office.
Roeser said his years in office saw “strengthened financial transparency and accountability, earned top honors for excellence in financial reporting, and maintained a resilient investment portfolio that safeguards public funds.”
Roeser’s term finishes at the end of December.
