The Statement Hat

For the fashion-fearless, a showpiece accessory makes its return. Anderson was inspired by an 18th-century staple for his Dior debut, where he unveiled his Stingray hat. Below, emerging designer Lorena Pipenco’s charming toppers inject a daring dose of color.

The Brooch

The vintage staple has been turning up in some unexpected places lately, and when set against a simple black turtleneck (as seen below), it feels fresh.

The Tweed Suit

Matthieu Blazy billed his Chanel debut as “an imaginary conversation with Gabrielle Chanel.” Naturally, the house founder’s iconic tweed suit made an appearance, with a relaxed shape and deconstructed hem that brought it squarely into the present.

The Bow Blouse

The exaggerated bow first appeared in Saint Laurent’s menswear collection, and creative director Anthony Vaccarello recently echoed the motif for his women’s range. The outsize detail brings a classic white shirt into bona fide fashion-statement territory.

The Romantic Earring

Ribbons and ruffles get an elevated upgrade with Louis Vuitton’s winsome dress, accessorized by D’heygere’s earrings. (Fun fact: ELLE’s fashion special projects editor Paul Sinclaire first discovered designer Stephanie D’heygere’s bow earrings when she wore them to pose for a portrait, and he knew he wanted them for this shoot.)

The Pleated Skirt

Perhaps the most surprising silhouette that returned to the runway for spring: the pleated skirt. Miuccia Prada continues to find new angles on the longtime house staple, while Jonathan Anderson paired a mini version with a reimagined Bar jacket at Dior.

The Gothic Gown

From Frankenstein to Wuthering Heights, all things Gothic and romantic are trending onscreen and off. Marc Jacobs’s take on a haunting black lace gown will help you channel your inner Victorian heroine.
