The San Antonio Spurs and the Charlotte Hornets are some of the hottest teams in the NBA this season.
They will meet on Saturday evening for the second and final time this year. The availability of the superstar center, Victor Wembanyama, came into question as early as Friday night.
Recently, Wembanyama started experiencing ankle soreness. Although he started and finished a 36-minute showing during the Spurs’ March 10 game against the Boston Celtics, Wembanyama’s status came into question on March 12.
The Spurs downgraded the star center to “out” against the Denver Nuggets. San Antonio dropped that matchup with a 136-131 loss, snapping a five-game winning streak. They will look to get back on track on Saturday.

San Antonio Spurs’ Injury Report
- David Jones Garcia – OUT – G League
- Dylan Harper – QUESTIONABLE – Calf Contusion
- Harrison Ingram – QUESTIONABLE – G League
- Emmanuel Miller – QUESTIONABLE – G League
- Victor Wembanyama – QUESTIONABLE – Ankle Soreness
While the Spurs are a solid team all around, the presence of Wembanyama is a game-changer. The center has been dominant since he entered the league as the No. 1 pick a few years back, but he’s playing on an entirely different level these days.
In 51 games, Wembanyama is averaging 24.2 points per game, while shooting 50% from the field. He is also shooting 36% from beyond the arc. Defensively, he’s grabbing 11.1 rebounds per game and blocking 3.0 shots per game. For the third year in a row, Wembanyama is the block leader so far.

Charlotte Hornets Injury Report
- Liam McNeeley – OUT – Ankle Sprain
- Anthonio Reeves – OUT – G League
- Tidjane Salaun – OUT – Calf Sprain
- Coby White – PROBABLE – Heel Contusion
- Ryan Kalkbrenner – PROBABLE – Illness
The Hornets are thriving this year, despite a slow start and carrying low expectations from the outsiders.
At 34-33, the Hornets are 10th in the Eastern Conference. While they are low in the rankings, likely grabbing a Play-In spot, nobody can deny the current hot streak they’ve created. Over their last 10 games, the Hornets are 8-2. They’ve won their last two games out.
When the Hornets and the Spurs met back in January, Charlotte secured its fourth win in a row over the Spurs with a 111-106 victory. The Spurs haven’t defeated the Hornets since January 12, 2024.
