St. Louis Science Center welcomes Blue Whale Story in May

ST. LOUIS—Science Center fans and visitors will soon be able to stand beside an 80-foot Blue Whale and hear surround-sound of its whale calls.

The traveling “Blue Whale Story” exhibition will be in St. Louis from May 23rd until January 10th at the Science Center.

“The Blue Whale Story reveals the immense scale, critical vulnerability and majestic beauty of blue whales,” stated Dr. Ray Vandiver, Science Center President and CEO. “Combining life-sized specimens, scientific discovery and interactive experiences, this exhibition allows our guests to gain a better understanding of these elusive ocean creatures up close and in person.”

This production, from the Royal Ontario Museum, tells the tale of nine blue whales that became trapped in sea ice off the coast in 2014 of Newfoundland, Canada. Since two whales were discovered, scientists were able to study the largest animals on Earth like never before.

Guests will learn all about the sea-giant while getting up close to life-size models of a Blue Whale body, heart and jaw.

“Traveling exhibitions like The Blue Whale Story are a great way for guests to explore more about the world around them, as well as the importance of continued learning and discovery.”

The Blue Whale Story exhibit highlights
