Thousands are expected to gather this Saturday, Mar. 7, 2026 at the Mural Amphitheater at Seattle Center for a rally to “Take Back Our Science” organized by Stand Up for Science Washington.
The event, scheduled from Noon to 3 p.m., will bring together Washington based scientists, health professionals, trainees and community advocates to call for scientific integrity, strong public health protections and decision making grounded in evidence and the public interest, according to organizers.
Stand Up for Science, a nonprofit group mobilizing what it describes as a fight for science and democracy, said the rally will also promote a movement to impeach and remove RFK Jr. as U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services.
The Seattle rally is one of more than 30 planned nationwide.
“Science impacts everyone, it’s at the heart of healthy communities and thriving ecosystems. When people turn out in large numbers, we show policymakers that the public will not accept decisions that ignore evidence or put health and safety at risk,” said Sarah Nelson, a researcher and core organizer with the local Stand Up for Science.
Co organizer Deborah Nemens said:
“The dangerous policies of the current administration have already set our nation back multiple generations in terms of our ability to cure disease, protect our people and care for the environment that sustains us all we owe it to future generations to fight back.”
Organizers said the Seattle chapter previously held a Stand Up for Science protest one year ago at Seattle Center that drew more than 4,000 scientists and supporters, with many thousands more participating nationwide.
Confirmed speakers for Saturday’s rally include:
- U.S. Rep. Kim Schrier
- Seattle City Councilmember Alexis Mercedes Rinck
