Stars Who Wore Cobalt or Klein Blue to the Oscars Stood Out in a Sea of White and Black Dresses

If you took notes from our most recent Spring/Summer 2026 fashion trend forecast, you might notice a familiar color manifesting itself again and again from the runways to red carpets: Klein Blue. It’s refreshing to see the electric color in practice at the Oscars this year and it brought life to the carpet amongst a sea of black and white (other colors ubiquitously worn by the stars this awards season). This is a proud moment, I’m sure, for the color’s inventor and trademarker, the late artist Yves Klein, who described it as a color beyond dimensions.

Brands like Gap Studio used the color as a vessel for Hollywood charm on Euphoria’s Barbie Ferreria, “creating a custom look for Barbie to wear to the Oscars was an opportunity to celebrate glamour,” said Zac Posen, EVP and Creative Director of Gap Inc. “We explored Gap’s blue codes through moiré taffeta, an indigo palette tied to Gap’s heritage.”

Elsewhere on the Oscars carpet, Sinners actress Jayme Lawson wore Loewe, an iteration from Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez’s debut Spring/Summer 2026 collection—where the peplum shapes and poppy blue-colored jackets from the runway are translated into an award show-worthy halter-neck dress, hand-embroidered with 3D-printed fringes.
