Steph Curry knee injury will keep Warriors star out ‘longer’ – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

Warriors fans hoping for good news about Steph Curry’s right knee injury might be disappointed by his re-evaluation scheduled for Sunday, according to the star point guard.

Curry told ESPN on ABC’s Malika Andrews he’ll remain sidelined by the runner’s knee that has kept him out of Golden State’s last 10 games, including Saturday night’s contest against the Los Angeles Lakers at Chase Center.

“It’s going to be a little longer,” Curry told Andrews during the fourth quarter of Saturday’s Warriors-Lakers game. “But, like I said, right now with this one, it’s just about each day, can you stack good days, and I’ve done that, so hopefully they can unleash me on the court soon, and like I said, get back out there sooner than later.”

The Warriors announced on Feb. 19, when Curry already had missed five games, that the 37-year-old would miss another 10 days due to his ongoing patellofemoral pain syndrome and be re-evaluated once that 10 days is up, which is Sunday.

“I’m feeling better,” Curry told Andrews. “This is a weird one. It’s kind of unpredictable how it’ll heal, but every day since All-Star Week has been progress. That’s all I can ask for, and hopefully I’m back out soon.”

While an MRI on Curry’s knee didn’t show any structural damage, it’s clear both Curry and the organization are playing it safe with the two-time NBA MVP’s health. Curry shared with Andrews how he has been staying ready during his lengthy absence.

“I haven’t gotten on the court yet, but just trying to stay in shape, strengthen everything else around my body, knowing that at this stage, once you get back, it’s kind of a full sprint to the playoffs,” Curry said. “Once I get back on the court, it is a little bit of a pain tolerance thing, but it’s just something that you don’t want to have lingering because it can get worse.”

It looks like Dub Nation will have to wait a bit longer for Curry’s return, but they’ll be getting the healthiest version of him when it happens.
