Carmelo Anthony and Steph Curry are two of the NBA’s greatest scorers of all time — and both certainly know how to steal the spotlight, even when they’re not playing.
Curry had a bit of fun on the Warriors’ sideline during their 128-117 win over the Denver Nuggets on Sunday at Chase Center when the injured guard pretended to shoot the ball, immediately drawing comparisons to Anthony’s hilarious moment during Dwyane Wade’s final game in 2019.
Curry has missed the Warriors’ last seven games as he deals with a right knee injury, diagnosed as runner’s knee, and his shot certainly is missed by Golden State. So, it’s no surprise the Chase Center crowd took delight in his antics from the sideline on Sunday.
And Anthony, a recent Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, knows just how transcendent Curry’s shot has been over the years.
“Oh, Steph changed the game,” Anthony told NBC Sports Bay Area’s Tristi Rodriguez during NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles. “When it comes to how you approach the game and how you prepare for the game, it’s all because of Steph. The way he was able to transcend the shot-making ability and extend the 3-point from the actual 3-point line to damn near half-court. It made you think differently on how you wanted to guard him, how you defended him, how you defended the Warriors.
“So, I just think he’s a game-changer. He changed the game. I think the game he changed will be changed for a long time.”
It’s great to see Curry remains in good spirits despite being sidelined, and the Warriors’ incredible victory without him against the Nuggets must have helped.
