Stormy weather is expected to affect Greece from Wednesday afternoon, with heavy rains and thunderstorms initially forecast for the Ionian Sea and the western mainland, while authorities have placed the regional units of Achaia and Ilia on red alert until Friday due to flood risks.
The Athens National Observatory and meteo.gr added that storms in parts of the southern Ionian, western and southern Peloponnese will be intense and may bring hail. Forecasts also warn of potential tornadoes during thunderstorms in parts of the western and southern Peloponnese and the eastern Aegean.
Rain and local thunderstorms will spread eastward Wednesday evening into Thursday, affecting most of the country. Attica is also expected to see rain and local thunderstorms Wednesday evening and early Thursday, with temporary intense phenomena and possible hail.
