After spending nearly a decade in the world of Stranger Things, Finn Wolfhard is turning his attention toward music.
In an interview with Esquire, the former Stranger Things star revealed that he is choosing to focus on his band, The Aubreys, and his growing musical career. Following the hit Netflix show’s final season, Wolfhard currently has no acting projects officially lined up. However, in the same interview, he did tease that fans could potentially see him in the It franchise in some capacity somewhere down the line, although he was very vague about how involved he would be. His part could range from a big role to a cameo or just his character being mentioned, as the actor didn’t disclose any specifics.
Although he’s prioritizing his music at the moment, the actor made it clear that he still plans to continue his acting career. Wolfhard explained that while he’s open to future roles, he will only consider projects that truly inspire him. But, for now, he will be putting his time and energy into touring with his band and producing more music for his fans.
I definitely want to pursue and keep on acting, but only if it’s something that I’m really in love with. Other than that, I’m probably going to tour a little bit with my band next year and put out another album. I have some music that I’ve written over the last two years that I want to record. So I’m kind of keeping it open.
The Aubreys is an alternative indie band that first debuted its single Getting Better (otherwise) in Wolfhard’s 2020 horror film The Turning, in which he starred alongside Mackenzie Davis, Brooklynn Prince, and Joely Richardson. That same year, they released their first EP, Soda & Pie. The band’s full album Karaoke Alone came out the following year in 2021.
In addition to his work with The Aubreys, Wolfhard ventured into solo work as well. He released his debut solo album titled Happy Birthday in June 2025 through AWAL (Artists Without A Label). The album showcased that his strengths go beyond acting and proved him to be a talented musician. Wolfhard is planning to record new material in the near future to further establish his career in the music industry.
