Student Government recapped its committee achievements throughout the term and presented a comprehensive budget overview at its Nov. 20 meeting.
Treasurer Gracie Vale ‘27 — elected for a second term in October — presented financial changes from the year, including a financial guidelines rewrite, mandatory budget information sessions for clubs, a new budget request period, more accessible office hours and new communication methods with clubs.
Vale also showed comparison data between club budget allocations from 2024 and this year. Last year saw $1,045,202.75 requested by student organizations, of which $551,966.56, or 52.8%, was allocated. This year, $804,161.40 was requested by groups, with $409,456.11 of the requested funds being allocated, or 50.9%.
Brown then presented an executive summary in which he praised Student Government for achieving internal reform with updated financial guidelines, a constitutional rewrite and a bylaws overhaul.
He also boasted that this year’s executive board election was the most competitive in over nine years, and the swearing-in of the new executive board took place on Thursday.
Brown expressed that future Student Government goals should include addressing student sentiments of feeling underrepresented, a desire for greater budget transparency and continuing to increase student government presence on campus.
“It’s been a long year, great times,” Brown said. “Can’t believe it’s come to this point, but we are basically done with the year.”
