The Student Senate voted to amend the Child Development Center advisory board bylaws as an attempt to increase transparency at its Wednesday night meeting.
The Child Development Center’s advisory board had been inactive for multiple years, and the center now wishes to revisit the board in an effort to increase collaboration between the center and SGA.
The bill was amended after being deferred to the Diversity, Empowerment, and Inclusion committee.
“I have reviewed those amendments,” SGA President Jia Wen Wang said during the meeting. “And I am in full support of this bill.”
With the new changes, the Child Development Center is required to start a sub-finance committee to develop and approve an annual budget that it will provide to the Student Government Association.
The board will be required to meet once per semester to examine and establish policies.
After a motion from Speaker of the Senate Matthew Phan, the resolution was passed by unanimous consent, meaning no senators voiced objections.
Students can share their thoughts on legislation at weekly Student Senate meetings during the public forum period. Senate meetings are on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. in the Rhatigan Student Center, room 233.
All senate meetings are livestreamed on SGA’s YouTube channel.
