Despite being from the previous-gen, the Core i9-14900KF is still one of the best CPUs for gaming, creative workflows, and multitasking. Storage and RAM
This build opts for 32GB of DDR5, which is a pretty standard to see with RTX 5080 models. If you’re playing games that eat up a lot of RAM just to run, like many modern AAA open-world titles, for example, having 32GB is going to ensure that everything still plays smoothly. For storage, it has 2TB, which is great for a decent collection of games, and won’t require constant management and clean up.
RTX 5080 graphics card
This is one of the best graphics cards you can buy for 1440p and 4K, and ray tracing. Boasting more CUDA cores than the RTX 5070 Ti, it’s a more powerful option that can handle more demanding settings and heavier-duty creative tasks, like 3D rendering. Built on Nvidia’s Blackwell Architecture, it features faster GDDR7 memory, 4th-gen ray tracing cores, and 5th-gen tensor cores, the latter of which give it a significant edge when it comes to AI capabilities over the previous generation and competitor AMD models. Things to consider
In a general sense, opting for a 14th-gen Intel prebuild does leave you slightly limited in terms of your upgrade path, as you would need to swap out the motherboard if you wanted to go for a newer Intel Core Ultra CPU. That being said, since the initial reaction to those CPUs was a little mixed, it’s not a massive deal killer for many. Still, it’s worth factoring in, though. Personally, I think it’s worth looking at AM5 models, like some RTX 5080, Ryzen 7 9800X3D options, if you’re after very strong gaming performance and good multitasking capabilities, but for less than $3,000 in most cases. These would be a bit more future-proof, and since the Ryzen 7 9850X3D was released, I’d personally expect to see them on sale more often.
