The National Association of Geoscience Teachers announced in a recent news release that Summit High School teacher Mary Slack has been awarded the Outstanding Earth Science Teacher Award for the Rocky Mountain section. This award honors outstanding contributions to the stimulation of interest in the earth sciences at the pre-college level.
Slack has been recognized for her innovative teaching methods and dedication to inspiring students to explore and appreciate the earth sciences, the news release stated. Her efforts have not only enriched the educational experiences of their students but have also contributed to the advancement of earth science education within the Rocky Mountain region.
The Outstanding Earth Science Teacher Award Award program, adopted by National Association of Geoscience Teachers in 1971, seeks to identify and reward excellence in teaching, stimulate higher levels of teaching performance and build a strong support network for pre-college Earth Science education.
