The Phoenix Suns announced on Wednesday that Jordan Goodwin won a prestigious award before the end of the regular season.
Goodwin is in his second stint with the Suns. He has carved out a role under coach Jordan Ott this season, averaging 8.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.5 steals per game.
Goodwin Wins Award
Back in 2003, the Suns introduced the Dan Majerle Hustle Award. It is given annually to a player who exemplifies the hustle, grit, and determination of “Thunder Dan,” who is considered among the greatest players in franchise history. He’s inducted into the Suns’ Ring of Honor.
The Suns announced that Goodwin is this year’s Majerle Hustle Award winner. Some of the reasons why he won include leading the team in total steals. He also has 36 games with at least two steals or more, which is fifth in the entire NBA.
Goodwin joined some of his current teammates who already won the award, like Ryan Dunn and Grayson Allen. The only three players to win the award more than once are Grant Hill, Mikal Bridges and PJ Tucker. Hill has two, Bridges won it three times and Tucker holds the record with four.
Coach Ott Comments on Goodwin’s Accolade

Speaking to reporters before Wednesday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks, coach Ott was asked about Goodwin winning the 2026 Majerle Hustle Award.
The coach was happy for Goodwin and thought that he deserved to win it. However, he also credited the entire team for stepping on defense for the entirety of the season.
“It’s hard to single out one person with how hard this group plays,” Ott said, via Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic. “It’s pretty easy to see multiple guys win that type of award for the season that we’ve had and the group of guys we have in that locker room. But I think we knew from his past experience here, that’s who he is, and not only what you see on the court, but just how he’s able to connect the locker room, which is a gigantic piece to part of our successes.
The first-year coach added, “To his credit, not only does he do that, but he performs on the court, which is a really nice bonus to have a good player and a guy that can connect everyone.”
Goodwin will be a free agent this offseason. He’ll likely have plenty of suitors after the season he has had off the bench in Phoenix.
Goodwin Suffers Injury in Suns’ Win
The Phoenix Suns were given plenty of fight by the Mavericks at the PHX Arena. Cooper Flagg struggled, but Phoenix had trouble containing John Poulakidas off the bench. Poulakidas finished with 23 points on 12 shots, making five 3-point shots.
But in the end, the Suns pulled off the 112-107 win. Devin Booker led the way with 37 points, five rebounds and nine assists, while Dillon Brooks added 28 points, five rebounds and three assists.
However, the Suns lost Goodwin and Jalen Green to injuries. Goodwin suffered an ankle injury in the second quarter, while Green had some issues with his knee in the first period, as reported by Arizona Sports.
