So far, we have checked three laptops with an alleged 7430U CPU for a suspected deviating CPU and have found it twice (on two different devices/mainboards, from the same ODM) at the manufacturer Chuwi. So far, any suspicions at Ninkear have not been confirmed – contrary to the aforementioned user information. Nevertheless, it cannot be ruled out at this time that individual batches are still affected and that the CPU may be different – our observations of two devices from different manufacturers with the same mainboard, but manufactured with a difference of up to one year, are a strong indication of this.
With this in mind, we would like to ask any affected users to contact us. We would be very happy to continue to follow this case and contribute to a comprehensive clarification.
A proven extension to other manufacturers would create a new dynamic in that the original design manufacturer would then move into the spotlight. Both Chuwi and Ninkear use so-called ODMs (Original Design Manufacturers – in our case Emdoor Digital) to produce their laptops, which build devices according to the requirements and plans of a manufacturer and deliver them ready for use. This also includes the CPU and the associated BIOS, which must have been modified accordingly to make the deception possible in the first place.
However this case develops: The manufacturer has a duty to ensure that a product it sells meets those specifications with which the device is sold and for which the customer is willing to spend their money.
