While ESO is currently available for Ultimate, Premium, and Essential Game Pass subscribers, only the console version of the game has been available for subscribers. That all ends on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, as The Elder Scrolls Online will launch on Xbox PC with full Xbox Play Anywhere support and join the Xbox Game Pass games library for PC Game Pass members.

That said, ZeniMax added the Xbox Play Anywhere tag to ESO last month, and a message from ZeniMax community manager ZOS_JessicaFolsom on Reddit revealed that Xbox PC support will come with some caveats. According to ZeniMax, when you boot up ESO on PC when it arrives in June, you’ll not be able to transfer your current PC progress (if you’ve been playing the game’s non-Xbox PC version), as the Xbox PC version will run on the Xbox servers.
Instead, if you have been playing on Xbox, you’ll be able to take your Tamrielic adventures across to PC, or handheld, now that The Elder Scrolls Online is compatible with Xbox Ally handhelds, and vice versa. At the time, ZeniMax said, “Account merges/transfers are not a part of this. When this launches, players who have Xbox accounts will have the option to log in and play using a PC via the Xbox PC app on the Xbox servers,” so we doubt that would have changed.
Still, if you’re planning to dive into Season Zero: Dusk & Dawn, you’ll be able to do so on your Xbox console, PC, or handheld, giving you far more choice.
Don’t forget that the team is also working on cross-play for ESO, and while it won’t arrive this year, it’s an extremely exciting feature I cannot wait to dive into. Will you be playing The Elder Scrolls Online when it joins PC Game Pass in June? Drop a comment below and let us know!
