There’s a new roguelike fighting game coming that lets you steal your opponent’s moves after beating them

The fighting game genre is filled with all sorts of different titles with their own unique features and mechanics that make them stand out though we usually don’t see ones like this.

Developer HeartLoop Games is working on a new roguelike fighting game that’s looking to take things in a different direction.

The game is called Poly Fighter, and it’s looking to put a new spin on the action.

In it, you’ve got your usual light, medium, and heavy attacks as well as dodges and throws, but the game goes in a unique direction for how it handles specials.

Your selected character starts out a run with only one special in their arsenal though you can earn more and power them up by completing matches.

As a roguelike, fighters can effectively take a defeated opponent’s moves as their own as well as earn perks to give you special attributes like freezing enemies with certain moves.

There’s also a morph meter that allows your character to transform into an animal hybrid too like it’s Bloody Roar.

While many fighting games are focused on the player-vs-player action, however, Poly Fighter is being built as a single-player experience with the goal of completing runs and challenges that will play out differently each time.

Poly Fighter is currently running an early play test on Steam though you have to request access and be accepted for it right now.

You can check out a trailer for Poly Fighter below as well as a video from Rooflemonger going into further detail as to how the game actually plays out.
