THI Expands $2M+ Investment in ReGeneration- Greece’s Most Successful Job‑Creation Program

ATHENS – The Hellenic Initiative (THI) announced a major expansion of its longstanding partnership with ReGeneration, Greece’s leading paid placement and training platform for young graduates. With cumulative THI support now surpassing $2 million, the collaboration stands as the most successful job‑creation effort in modern Greece, generating 5,000+ employment opportunities during a decade marked by persistent youth unemployment and brain drain.

Since co‑founding the program in 2014 with the support of The Coca‑Cola Company and THI, ReGeneration has grown into Greece’s premier bridge between education and meaningful employment— providing equitable access to training, professional development, and paid placements. THI has played a strategic role in scaling the platform’s governance, long‑term planning, and operational sustainability.

THI’s sustained investment has enabled ReGeneration to deliver measurable outcomes for Greece’s economy and workforce.

To date, ReGeneration has achieved:

  • 5,000 paid employment placements
  • 11,000 alumni and 51,000 candidates assessed
  • 850,000 training hours delivered across soft skills and technical upskilling in AI, Data, Cybersecurity, Coding, and Sustainability
  • 2,000+ corporate partners
  • 90% retention rate at six months
  • 49% faster hiring for participating employers
  • €30M+ in salaries unlocked for young professionals
  • 5,000+ total hirings facilitated

This model has earned international recognition— including at the World Economic Forum— and 17 national awards for innovation and impact.

THI’s 2026 funding will support ReGeneration program salaries and accelerate the development of an AI‑driven platform designed to expand capacity and improve efficiency.

The platform is expected to:

  • Reduce administrative workload by 30-40%
  • Cut manual support requests by 50-60%
  • Enable support for 20-25% more candidates per cycle
  • Increase annual placements by 20-30%
  • Reduce time‑to‑interview by ~20%

For donors, this marks a pivotal shift: THI’s investment enables ReGeneration to scale impact dramatically without proportional increases in operating costs.

George P. Stamas, THI Board President, stated: “ReGeneration is one of the clearest examples of diaspora philanthropy driving systemic, measurable change. THI’s investment has helped unlock thousands of jobs and create a new pathway of opportunity for young people in Greece. This is precisely the kind of long‑term nation‑building impact THI exists to deliver.”

Nikos Koumettis, THI Executive Committee Member and Co‑Founder of ReGeneration, commented: “ReGeneration was created to reverse the outflow of talent from Greece. Today, with more than 5,000 jobs created, it stands as a beacon of what cross‑sector collaboration can achieve. THI has been a critical partner from day one, helping us scale with ambition, rigor, and a deep commitment to Greece’s next generation.”

Maria Moragianis, General Manager of ReGeneration, added: “THI’s approach goes far beyond traditional donor support. It is built on real partnership, mutual trust, and a shared commitment to measurable impact. That consistency is what allowed ReGeneration to grow into a national employability platform, and why this relationship remains so meaningful.”
