Golf tournament benefits Lou Gehrig’s disease research
The Augie’s Quest Classic golf tournament is on March 16 at Fairbanks Ranch Country Club, 15150 San Dieguito Road. The event, hosted by Bay Club, raises money for continued research on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), aka Lou Gehrig’s disease. The tournament honors the legacies of Augie Nieto and Rick Caro. Nut Butter Drive to help support children facing hunger
The Del Sol Lions Club is partnering with Solana Beach Family Optometry, Poppy Bank, and North San Diego County Food Bank to host the Spread the Love Nut Butter Drive during the month of February. Currently, 1 in 5 kids in North County faces hunger. Why nut butter? The Flower Fields opens
The Flower Fields will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily March 1 through Mother’s Day, May 10 at 5704 Paseo Del Norte. An estimated 80 million Giant Tecolote Ranunculus in 13 shades of color are expected to bloom this season across 55 acres. UC San Diego presents new exhibition
On Feb. 28, UC San Diego’s Mandeville Art Gallery debuts “Faith Ringgold: Full Circle – The Teachings and Her Legacy,” a new exhibition that traces the life and career of Faith Ringgold. Ringgold emerged during the Black Arts Movement in 1965 and introduced Black women’s pictorial, narrative and craft traditions in an art scene initially dominated by abstraction and minimalism. The exhibition is framed conceptually through Ringgold’s relationship to UC San Diego, where she served as professor of visual arts from 1984 to 2002. The exhibition is curated by Mashonda Tifrere, an international curator, collector, author and advocate, and will remain on view through May 1.A free public reception will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28.
