While mini PCs are great, they do have limitations if you’re not careful. Although it’s usually not possible to upgrade a lot of the hardware in a mini PC, we do try and highlight some good examples if you’re looking to make a purchase. With that said, this one from GMKtec is now on sale, dropping to $370 for a limited time, which is $160 off the usual retail price.
Compact, powerful, and easy to upgrade
When it comes to the hardware, we like what this mini PC has to offer. It features an AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 6650H processor that’s paired with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. Sure, those numbers aren’t going to wow anyone, but it’s enough to get the basics done, and a little more.
That means if you’re looking for a desktop replacement, this GMKtec mini PC is going to be able to handle pretty much everything you throw at it. Browsing the internet, authoring documents, paying bills online, streaming music and videos, and the list goes on. You can even get some light gaming in without any issues.
Of course, the real power from this unit comes from its ability to be upgraded. While the CPU and RAM will stay as is, you can always add more storage using the internal M.2 card slot. There’s also an OCuLink port, which makes it possible to connect an eGPU for more power for graphically intense games and applications.
So if this sounds like something you’ve been looking for, we recommend picking it up while it’s still on sale. It’s not going to be the most beastly mini PC you can buy, but it will easily handle all the day-to-day tasks for most people.
