The design is deceptively simple, but that’s what makes it so good. It’s a combination style – a ribbed tank top up top, with a gathered nylon taffeta skirt – which may sound bland, but in practice just works. The fitted ribbed bodice gives it shape, while the slightly puffed, swishy skirt keeps things feeling relaxed and a bit more interesting than your average jersey dress. It’s that mix that Uniqlo does so well: practical, but with a point of view.
The fit-and-flare cut makes it incredibly easy to wear (no clinging, no adjusting), and its side-seam pockets (always a win) make it feel immediately more wearable day-to-day. It’s a dress you can actually live in, not just something you save for specific, one-off plans.
It’s ticking all the right colour boxes too: black and white for the minimalists, plus a brown stripe or a blue stripe if you want something that feels a bit more ‘spring’ without veering into anything too bold. All of them feel very wearable, very now, and crucially, like they won’t have dated by next year.
