Together for Palestine single aims for UK Christmas number one

Fundraising campaign Together for Palestine has announced a benefit single to be released via its label T4P on 12 December.

‘Lullaby’ is based on the traditional Palestinian song ‘Yamma Mweel El Hawa’. The new version has been written by Peter Gabriel, and the recording features artists include Brian Eno, Neneh Cherry, Mabel, Nadine Shah and Celeste.

The artists and organisation are aiming to reach the UK Christmas number one slot with the single, with all profits going to life-saving aid for children and families in Gaza.

“After a year defined by unimaginable loss, grief and injustice, we want to end with an act of love for Palestine’s children,” said Eno. “Lullaby reflects their beauty, their longing and their hope. If we rally together and download it, we have a real shot at landing Christmas No. 1.”

The single follows Together for Palestine’s benefit concert in September at London’s Wembley Arena, which hosted over 12,000 fans and raised over £1.5m for organisations including Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, the Palestine Medical Relief Society and Taawon.

Meanwhile, the No Music for Genocide campaign, which has seen a number of artists remove their catalogues from streaming services in Israel, continues.

My Bloody Valentine, Shygirl, Denzel Curry, Saba and Paul Weller are among the latest musicians to join the boycott.
