The Tualatin Timberwolves defeated the Central Catholic Rams to capture the OSAA 6A Boys Basketball Championship in a dramatic back-and-forth battle that came down to the final seconds.
Central Catholic opened the game with strong defensive intensity, jumping out to an early 8–5 lead. The Rams’ aggressive pressure disrupted Tualatin’s rhythm early, while free throws helped the Timberwolves stay within striking distance.
Despite looking rattled at times in the opening quarter, Tualatin slowly settled in and managed to tie the game at 16 early in the second quarter. Junior guard Pat Vialva Jr. began to find his rhythm, knocking down key shots that kept the Timberwolves in the game.
Central Catholic relied heavily on hustle plays and second-chance opportunities. Their work on the offensive glass proved critical, allowing the Rams to edge ahead and take a narrow 29–28 lead into halftime.
The momentum shifted quickly after the break. Tualatin flipped the script to begin the second half, taking an early lead as Vialva continued to deliver with timely mid-range jumpers.
By the start of the fourth quarter, the Timberwolves held a slim one-point advantage, setting up a tense final stretch. Central Catholic responded with a 6–0 run, highlighted by an and-one layup from Zamir Paschal. With 3:25 remaining, the Rams extended their lead to 55–50 and appeared to have momentum on their side.
Paschal added another bucket plus the foul to push the lead to six, but the night ultimately belonged to Vialva.
The Tualatin Senior responded with a clutch three-pointer while drawing a foul, pulling the Timberwolves back within striking distance. Moments later, with seconds remaining and Tualatin trailing by two, Vialva got the shot he wanted.
From the corner, he launched a three that found the bottom of the net.
Central Catholic’s desperation full-court attempt missed, sealing a thrilling championship victory for Tualatin and crowning the Timberwolves state champions once again.
