Turkish Action Movie ’12 Warriors’ Sets Global Sales Plan

Turkish action movie 12 Warriors is headed to AFM and Ventana Sur with House of Film handling sales.

The movie tells the story of a dozen elite warriors from around the world who are kidnapped and forced to take part in fight-to-the-death survival games. Affairs are organized by Sergey, a disgraced and sociopathic former Russian intelligence officer. He has built a shadowy organization that counts crime bosses, politicians, billionaires and members of the global elite as its members.

“The film stands out not only for its real action scenes but also for its profound thematic underpinnings,” the team behind the movie said ahead of its AFM bow, adding that the project has “set out to represent Turkish cinema on the global stage.” There will be a screening of the finished picture at AFM.

12 Warriors is produced by IBP Film and is co-directed by Omer Ilhan and Ates Ozkan. An ensemble cast includes Tom So, Roon Moss, Afif Ben Badra, Costas Mandylor, Franky Lankester and Tomas Sjomju. The film is a mix of English and Turkish language.

Turkish TV drama is a huge seller around the world. It is especially popular in Latin America, the Middle East and the CEE region and is making inroads into Western Europe. The TV sales houses have a major presence at the big TV fests and events and pre-sales on 12 Warriors actually started at MIPCOM in Cannes, the biggest TV market of the year.

The international sales effort will continue at AFM in Los Angeles this week, and then continue at the Latin America-focused market Ventana Sur, which starts on December 1 and is held in Buenos Aires.
