Turkish Cypriot singer has claimed Greek authorities barred her from entering the country, citing a past performance in Komotini as the reason.
In a series of videos posted on Instagram, Karaca said she was stopped at on Good Friday and informed she had been declared an “undesirable person.”
Entry denied at Athens airport
According to the singer, the decision was linked to her appearance at an event in in the summer of 2024, where she performed the “Izmir March” and made statements that allegedly prompted the restriction.
Karaca said that while members of her family were allowed to enter Greece, she herself was refused entry and held at the airport for several hours.
“They treated us like enemies,” she said in the video, alleging she was subjected to insulting behaviour and left without basic provisions while awaiting deportation.
“I would do it again”
In a follow-up video, Karaca stood by her actions during the 2024 event, stating she would repeat them if given the chance.
In the same post, she reiterated her support for Turkey, writing that she would continue to say “How happy is the one who says I am a Turk” and expressing her devotion to the Turkish nation.
The 2024 Komotini appearance, organised by a minority association, drew attention at the time due to her performance of the “Izmir March,” a song associated with Turkish nationalism.

Greek authorities have not publicly commented on the specific case.
However, entry bans can be imposed under national security or public order provisions, particularly in cases involving individuals deemed to have engaged in actions or statements considered provocative or contrary to national interests.
The incident comes amid continued sensitivities in the region regarding historical narratives and minority issues in northern Greece.
