MIAMI — Electronic Dance Music fans from all over the world arrived on Friday afternoon at the Ultra Music Festival, which has been ongoing since 1999.
The lines to get through a security screening at the UMF entrance at Bayfront Park extended along Biscayne Boulevard in Downtown Miami.
Kescily Chipollne, a tourist from Hawaii, said EDM fans were “amazing people” and described the high-energy atmosphere as “Magic.”
DJs on the UMF’s seven stages will play sets simultaneously until midnight. The DJs are also in town for the Miami Music Festival and the Winter Music Conference, which started in 1985.
Quiana Velez, a tourist from Orlando, said that attending UMF was a dream come true, and so far, the event had the “best vibe.”
Lorenzo Gonzalez, a tourist from Boston, was excited about the three-day EDM DJs lineup.
“It is music, it is love each other, it is comfort,” Gonzalez said. “It is vibes.”
EDM fashionistas embraced the culture with neon, shimmer, and sparkle. Tony No, a tourist from Huntington Beach, wore black angel wings.
“It’s a little rainy, but as long you have the right spirit, I don’t care if a hurricane comes,” he said, adding a comment about his outfit: “Maybe I am the Huntington Beach Lady Gaga.”
Carissa Lords, a tourist from San Diego, said she had been planning what to wear for months.
“ I’ve been working on my outfit for probably four months now. This is actually a backup outfit,” she said, adding, “We’re gonna be ducks tomorrow.”
