UNC forward Caleb Wilson is entering the NBA Draft, he announced through an informal Instagram post on Friday.
A caption accompanying a post with a series of photos from his freshman year read, “never take it for granted 𩵠#8out.” Comments from teammates gave thanks and congratulations.
Wilson was one of the top recruits in the 2025 class and fulfilled his hype during his only season in Chapel Hill. The 6-foot-10 forward from Atlanta was always thought to be a one-and-done prospect with lottery pick potential. He scored 19.8 points per game on average, grabbed 9.4 rebounds per game and was a consistent defensive presence on the other end of the floor.
His season was derailed by a fractured hand injury that he suffered on Feb. 10 in a loss to Miami. He broke his thumb in early March before the Tar Heels’ second meeting with Duke and missed the rest of the season.
UNC finished the season with an 82-78 overtime loss in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to VCU, an 11 seed. Their prospects for postseason success diminished greatly due to Wilson’s absence as they dropped their final three games, leading to coach Hubert Davis’ firing.
Wilson was paramount in regular-season victories against Kansas, Duke, and Kentucky. He was first-team All-ACC and a second-team All-American selection.
