15 models for 60 silhouettes at the Prada show
On this second day of Milan Fashion Week, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons crafted a show that already feels like the most accomplished one of the season. To introduce their Prada Fall/Winter 2026-2027 collection, the two designers opted for an unexpected staging. Only fifteen models on the catwalk for sixty silhouettes. At the Fondazione Prada, each model walked the runway four times… With every appearance, they shed a garment.
For both Miuccia Prahttps://numero.com/en/art/art-art/interview-with-miuccia-prada-the-word-beautifulis-overused-just-like-the-words-luxury-or-chic-in-fashion-circles-2/da and Raf Simons, their role as designers goes beyond simply creating beautiful clothes. Over the past few seasons, they have given an almost sociological reflection on fashion through their womenswear collections.

Layering is at the heart of the Fall/Winter 2026-2027 collection
In the history of fashion, layering is not a new concept. Used in recent years to describe the art of composing an outfit by superimposing different layers of clothing to create a complex and original look, this technique has been embraced by women for a long time. Well before it was theorized, the principle of layering already adressed aesthetic, practical and cultural concerns.
Fascinated by layering, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons use it in their Fall/Winter 2026–2027 collection to emphasize how a silhouette can highlight the many facets of the person who wears it. Layering underscores how a seemingly simplistic look can hide a rich complexity.
However, this notion of superimposition is not limited to styling alone. It became obvious as the models reappeared on the runway, with each silhouette constructed like a collision of eras and references. Archival pieces mingle with sportswear, deliberately worn-out coats and flashy satin shoes… Here, garments are assembled in an almost anarchic way. The result is a perfect example of how Prada writes a unique stylistic language season after season.
