While March is typically for basketball, the film industry is expecting its own madness. With new, intriguing movies coming out practically every week of the month, here is what you should be looking forward to.
Honorable mentions that won’t be dove into include the buddy action comedy “Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice,” the comedy horror “Vampires of the Velvet Lounge,” the comedy adventure “Holy Days” and the British crime drama “Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.”
“Project Hail Mary”
Probably the most anticipated film of the month, coming out on March 20, the film is based on Andy Weir’s novel of the same name.
Produced and directed by the filmmaking and acting duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, known for their works “21 Jump Street” and “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” the film features writer Drew Goddard, who adapted Weir’s previous novel, “The Martian.”
This sci-fi adventure starring Ryan Gosling as a science teacher, Ryland Grace, takes place on a spaceship many light-years away from Earth. Waking up on the ship with no recollection of who he is or how he got there, he realizes he is alone on the ship– or is he?
There is a mysterious substance that is causing the sun to die out, and he deduces that he was sent to figure out why this is happening.
To survive this near-impossible mission, Ryland must rely on his scientific knowledge, sheer ingenuity and human will to save the world from disaster.
“The Bride!”
Based on Mary Shelly’s “Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus,” and drawing inspiration from the 1935 film “Bride of Frankenstein,” this gothic romance, horror, sci-fi film takes place in 1930s Chicago.
Frankenstein’s monster (Christian Bale) asks Dr. Europhonius (Anette Bening) to create a companion for him.
Bringing a murdered woman back to life gives Frankenstein’s monster what he wants. What follows is nothing they could have ever imagined.
Sparking romance, police interest and radical social change, this remake of the 1935 film is finally set to release on March 6, after two delayed late-2025 dates.
“Forbidden Fruits”
Featuring a very young, star-studded cast, “Forbidden Fruits” is a horror comedy film coming out on March 27.
Director Meredith Alloway partnered with Diablo Cody, the producer of “Jennifer’s Body,” for her feature-length debut starring Lili Reinhart, Lola Tung, Victoria Pedretti and Alexandra Shipp.
Apple (Reinhart) is an employee at Free Eden who secretly runs a witchy cult in the basement of the mall after hours. Her fellow “fruits,” Cherry (Pedretti) and Fig (Shipp), are her loyal friends and members of the cult.
When a new hire in the mall, Pumpkin (Tung), is introduced to the group, the sisterhood of the original fruits is threatened.
To fight back against their threatened sisterhood, they are forced to face their own poisons or succumb to a bloody fate.
“Do Not Enter”
When a group of thrill-seeking urban explorers, The Creepers, set out to push their boundaries by exploring a supposedly haunted hotel. Live-streaming their exploration, this stunt proves to be more difficult than expected.
Daring to enter the abandoned Paragon Hotel in New Jersey in an attempt to become famous, The Creepers soon find themselves fending off supernatural creatures and deadly rivals who stalk them from the shadows.
Based on David Morrell’s 2005 novel, “Creepers,” the film features Adeline Rudolph (“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”) in her film debut and Australian actor Nicholas Hamilton (“It Chapter One” and “It Chapter Two”). The film is set for a limited release on March 20.
With a rumored $300 million stashed away in the hotel, will they make it out, or will there be a bloody trail of overzealous explorers left behind?
