UPDATE: LPHS Science teacher in the running for America’s Favorite Teacher | 103.9 WLPO


It’s now  Round three for a La Salle Peru High School science teacher vying to be America’s Favorite Teacher.   Nancy Kochis teaches forensics at LP, and, to this day,  loves inspiring students, so retiring really isn’t on her radar. The contest she’s entered in is a national search organized by a firm called Colossal who supports charities. This contest has teachers competing for very nice prizes.

In her voting profile at America’s Favorite Teacher dot org, Kochis says she waited  until her son was in school fulltime to return to college. She has earned six degrees and is working on her doctorate. If she wins, Nancy receives $25,000, a trip to Hawaii, an appearance in Reader’s Digest…..and a school assembly with Bill Nye. Nye is well versed in science and became nationally visible through a PBS TV show. The website says Kochis is in third place in the current round. nd place in the voting. Voting before April 9th to support Kochis.
