LA CROSSE (WKBT) — Music fans in La Crosse got a free front row seat as the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Symphonic Band took the stage for ‘AYO!’.
The performance at the Lowe Center for the Arts featured a full lineup of dynamic contemporary wind band works, from the high-energy piece “Rocketship” to reflective pieces like “Joy Revisited.”
Directors say the program is designed to show off the range of the band.
“All of us love music — we listen to music, we all do music — a lot of us perform music and many people after high school lose the opportunity to without band class, but it’s a great way to keep doing music and just express yourself in a way you usually don’t do,” said Gavin Dillie, guest conductor.
The evening of live performance was free to the community.
