Valencia County Finance Director resigns after falling to $2 million scam


The Valenica County Finance Director who fell for a $2 million email scam has resigned.

VALENCIA COUNTY, N.M. – The Valenica County Finance Director who fell for a $2 million email scam has resigned.

County officials confirmed the employee resigned on Friday.

Valencia County is out millions after a scammer reportedly posed as Bradbury Stamm Construction, the contractor for the new Valencia County Hospital in Los Lunas. The county paid over $2 million before discovering the fraud.

The county says the incident does not impact the hospital construction, which is still expected to open this fall.
