Knicks vs. Spurs: The matchup

The Spurs find themselves in the thick of the Western Conference race now after beating the NBA-leading Oklahoma City Thunder three times as part of a hot streak where they eight times in nine games. San Antonio reached a high water mark with a 23-7 record before losing back-to-back games on its home floor to the Utah Jazz (127-114) and Cleveland Cavaliers (113-101). The Spurs lost a fourth-quarter lead to the Cavs their last time out and shot just 39% from the floor to fall to 11-4 on their home floor.

The Knicks sit atop the Eastern Conference’s Athletic Division with their 23-9 record and arrive in San Antonio on a three-game win streak. All three of those wins came by five points or less, most recently beating the Pelicans in New Orleans (130-125) with a big fourth quarter to overcome a seven-point deficit. Jalen Brunson led the way for the Knicks with a 28-point, 10-assist double-double. Karl-Anthony Towns (12 points, 12 rebounds) and OG Anunoby (23 points, 11 rebounds) also logged double-doubles in the win.
