WAYNE COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) – The Wayne County Sheriff’s office is investigating a “situation” involving the Village of Dalton and its finances.
Wayne County Sheriff’s Captain Paul Brumme said they are working with the Ohio State Auditor’s Office on the ongoing investigation.
At this time, there are no charges filed and the investigation remains in the “early stages,” said Captain Brumme.
Village of Dalton Mayor Dennis Finley said earlier this year, he noticed “some unusual conduct” and notified the Village Council and Dalton Police Department.
Based on legal advice, Finley said the matter was turned over to the sheriff’s department.
