WHITEFISH, Mont. — The Whitefish Education Foundation is celebrating a major milestone in its effort to improve music programs across local schools.
The foundation’s “Make Music Resonate” campaign has raised $300,000 toward its $400,000 goal, aimed at replacing aging band and orchestra instruments in Whitefish school, some of which date back to the 1950s.
Now, a new donation is helping push that effort closer to the finish line.
A $50,000 matching challenge from local donors Jim and Lisa Stack will match community contributions dollar-for-dollar, up to the full amount, giving supporters a chance to double their impact.
“Recently Jim and Lisa Stack, who are local donors, announced that they’re going to do a $50,000 matching campaign,” said Summer Boggess, orchestra director at Whitefish Middle and High School. “So dollar for dollar, they’re going to match up to $50,000 to get us to our final goal of $400,000 for new instruments.”
Organizers say the campaign has already seen strong community support, but emphasize that continued donations will be key to unlocking the full match and reaching the goal.
Funds from the campaign will go toward ensuring middle and high school students have access to reliable, updated instruments, helping sustain music education in Whitefish for years to come.
