It’s Wilfried Nancy’s European debut and here’s how our top team think it will play out

Celtic V Roma – Europa League Preview
It’s Wilfried Nancy‘s European bow as Celtic boss on Thursday night and he’s hoping for a significant improvement on his domestic debut against Hearts. It’s the first chance for Hoops fans to see how their new boss will approach things against the top sides in Europe, and our writers have made their predictions on how it’ll go under the lights at Parkhead.
- Michael Gannon – It doesn’t get any easier for Wilfried Nancy in this baptism of fire, but this should be more of a free hit. Celtic need to stay in the game and at least make a contest of it. But Roma have one foot in the next round and will have the quality to see it out. Prediction: Celtic 0 Roma 2
- Keith Jackson – Wilfried Nancy would have had his work cut out against the Italians regardless of what went on against Hearts on Sunday. But the new man will be hoping for a noticeable improvement in performance levels just to bring the home famns with him. A draw would constitute a move in the right direction. Prediction: Celtic 2 Roma 2
- Gavin Berry – Roma aren’t arriving into Glasgow in the best shape after back to back defeats which have dented their Serie A challenge but Celtic are in a similar boat after a major set-back with Wilfried Nancy suffering defeat in his first game in charge. The Frenchman could have done with a more gentle fixture to follow that up – the Italians are likely to have too much. Prediction: Celtic 1 Roma 2
- Andy Newport – The Serie A giants showed their class at Ibrox a few weeks back, winning against Rangers with ease. Celtic should be a tougher but to crack but new boss Wilfried Nancy is under pressure to get a result after Sunday’s Hearts defeat. A draw would see things simmer down ahead of next weekend’s Premier Sports Cup Final. Prediction: Celtic 1 Roma 1
- Scott McDermott – Celtic players are still finding their feet under new gaffer Wilfried Nancy especially as the Frenchman tries to bed in a new formation. Roma’s form in Serie A has dipped in recent weeks but they showed at Ibrox against Rangers they’re a slick outfit with top players. They won that game without getting out of second gear and if they’re at it at Parkhead, they will be too strong for the Hoops. Prediction: Celtic 1 Roma 2
- Scott Burns – I fear Wilfried Nancy could have a little longer to wait for that first win. Roma have the quality and even at Celtic Park should edge it. Prediction: Celtic 1 Roma 2
