TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Washburn University’s WiFi Film Festival put 45 movies on display at The Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library.
The films were created by both Washburn students and even by people in other countries.
Organizers say hard work makes the unique festival happen.
“We have a really fabulous group of student leaders that put in an immense amount of work to get this off the ground,” festival executive director Matthew Nyquist said. “I lead it but they really are the troops that are getting it going.”
“I think to know people different ages and from different places,” film producer Sebastian Twardosz said. “Because it’s important, you have to mix it up, you can’t just have everything be the same.”
Nyquist said an award show will be streamed via a student-led Facebook livestream on Sunday.
