The Canadians played well, but it ultimately came down to the vice performances that were the difference. Canada’s Emma Miskew missed just too many opportunities to set the Canadians up, and in the second half of that game, and Sweden’s Sarah McManus was not missing anything after the fifth end, improving from the 60s to 81% shot accuracy.
Canada skip Rachel Homan stood on her head and made every possible shot, but it just wasn’t enough. The Swedes forced her to complicated and sometimes impossible draws to keep them in it. Canada never scored a deuce the entire game.
But, Canada should be very proud. They played in elimination games essentially from the fourth draw, and won the rest of the round robin to punch their ticket to the semifinals.
Bronze will not be the colour they wanted to play for, but it’s still a medal. I imagine these women will take today to regroup and reflect on how much they have accomplished so far.
