Former Wisconsin basketball standout Micah Potter signed a contract with the Indiana Pacers on Friday.
The team did not disclose the specific terms of the deal. However, the former Badger forward immediately played 18 minutes during the team’s loss to the Boston Celtics on Friday night, signaling the contract will likely keep him at the NBA level. The team waived guard Garrison Mathews and released center James Wiseman from his 10-day contract in subsequent moves.

Potter previously spent the 2024-25 season with the Utah Jazz. He appeared in 38 games during the campaign, starting 10, and averaged 18.6 minutes, 4.3 points, and 4.3 rebounds.
He got his Pacers career off on the right foot on Friday night, notching nine points, one rebound and one block in those 18 minutes, while shooting 2-of-2 from the floor, 1-of-1 from 3 and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. He could see that minute total increase with continued strong play, given the Pacers’ significant struggles to begin the season.
The former Badger is now impressively in his fifth NBA season (2021-26). He played for two seasons at Wisconsin (2019-21), appearing in 52 total games and averaging 11.6 points and 6.1 rebounds, while shooting 51.2% from the floor and 40.8% from 3.
Three Wisconsin products have now appeared in an NBA game this season: Potter, Chucky Hepburn and Nigel Hayes-Davis. John Tonje, Steven Crowl, Max Klesmit and Johnny Davis also currently suit up at the G League level.
