ATHENS — The 18-time World Champion, professional Greek kickboxer and martial artist Mike Zambidis (who is known in Greek as Michalis Zambidis) has shared a promotional flyer on his Instagram, sharing the details about an upcoming match against the legendary Floyd Mayweather.
Captioned “HISTORY IS ABOUT TO BE MADE” the post highlights an image of the pair who will face each other in the ‘Battle of the Legends’ match, indicating how it will take place on Saturday, June 27 at the OAKA Arena in Athens, Greece.
The Greek kickboxer goes by the ring name of ‘Iron Mike’ Zambidis and was born and raised in Athens. From the age of 9, he began his MMA training, where he commenced wrestling, pancrase, muay thai, and boxing.

He stands at 1.67 meters tall, and throughout his career, has secured 157 wins out of 181 fights, with 87 victories due to a knockout, as well as 18 world champion wins. These include K-1, Superkombat and W5, where Zambidis quickly became recognized for his aggressive style and knockout power.
Now, at 45-years-old, he is gearing up to compete against one of the most legendary professional boxers, Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather.
According to a report by Kathimerini, Zambidis’ last kickboxing match took place on June 27, 2015, where he ended up defeating his opponent, Steve Moxon in Athens. This marked his last match, as he then retired. In 2019 however, he also secured one single win before again stepping back from the sport.s year, he is coming back in the ring on June 27, which will officially be 11 years after his retirement.

The 48-year-old Mayweather on the other hand, retired from professional boxing nine years ago, back in 2017, with an impressive 50-0 record, including 27 knockouts.
His most recent appearance included a contest in August of 2024 against John Gotti III, a professional MMA fighter from New York.
Although Mayweather has yet to comment on the upcoming summer match, the comments of the post have got people talking and excited for what’s to come.
