Xbox Game Pass adds Beast of Reincarnation in August

Following a reveal at Sony’s recent State of Play, we now know when Beast of Reincarnation joins Xbox Game Pass. The upcoming action-RPG from Pokémon developer Game Freak launches for Xbox Series X|S and PC on August 4, 2026, and will be available with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on day one.

Although the Beast of Reincarnation achievements are still a mystery (and probably will remain that way for a few months yet), we do know a fair bit about the Xbox action-RPG, largely thanks to a big gameplay reveal at last month’s Xbox Developer Direct. Beast of Reincarnation is a “one-person, one-dog action-RPG” that blends real-time and turn-based combat.

Set in a post-apocalyptic Japan, you play as Emma, an outcast who has been shunned from society for her affliction, along with a dog named Koo. Emma and Koo soon realize they are humanity’s only hope and set out across a dangerous, ever-changing world ravaged by blight to bring down bosses, capture their powers, and ultimately defeat the Beast of Reincarnation.

How you take on these enemies is up to you, thanks to skill trees, gear, and abilities that can all be tailored to your ranged, stealthy, or aggressive combat style. When in battle, protagonist Emma fights using a sword in real-time, while Koo can attack using kills via commands like in a turn-based RPG. When Emma pulls off a parry, you earn points to activate Koo’s skills, which are accessed by opening a command menu that also slows down time. Seamlessly switching between attacks with both characters is key to surviving in this post-apocalyptic world.

What are your thoughts on Beast of Reincarnation? Are you looking forward to checking this one out when it joins the ever-expanding library of Xbox Game Pass games in August? Let us know down in the comments below.
